The ube-forward concept continues its West Coast momentum with new deals in Monterey County and Indio.
Salinas, CA (RestaurantNews.com) Café 86, the fast-casual dessert and beverage franchise celebrated for its award-winning ube-inspired treats and handcrafted beverages, has signed two new franchise agreements in California, further strengthening its rapidly growing West Coast presence. These additions bring the brand’s location total to nearly 50, as it continues to push expansion in 2026.
The brand has inked a single-unit agreement in Monterey County, California, with franchisees Jonathan and Maia Estrada, as well as a single-unit agreement in Indio, California, with Glenn and Geneanne Maniago. Both locations are currently in development and will bring Café 86’s signature desserts, vibrant atmosphere, and Filipino-inspired flavors to new communities.
“These new agreements reflect the continued momentum we’re seeing and each community’s continued loyalty for our brand and menu,” said James Dimapasok, co-founder of Café 86. “We’re grateful to work with passionate franchise partners who connect with our story and are excited to share our flavors and culture in their local markets.”
Founded in 2014 by husband-and-wife team Ginger Dimapasok and James Dimapasok, Café 86 has built a loyal following around its recognizable ube desserts, known for their purple hue and subtle vanilla notes. The brand’s menu features fan favorites such as ube leche flan cupcakes, truffles, cheesecakes, milkshakes, milk tea, espresso drinks, and more, with new creations being introduced periodically.
Café 86’s franchise growth is supported through its ongoing collaboration with West Coast Franchise Developers (WCFD) and Franchise Marketing Systems (FMS), whose combined efforts in franchise development and sales have helped guide the brand’s continued expansion.
“Café 86 combines authenticity, a unique product lineup, and an approachable model that continues to attract entrepreneurs,” said Devin Conner, CEO and founder of West Coast Franchise Developers. “It’s been exciting to watch the brand resonate with franchise candidates who are looking for something that’s different, scalable, and rooted in deep cultural ties.”
The brand has celebrated several notable milestones in recent months. Most recently, Café 86 marked the grand opening of its Placentia, California, location at 1241 E. Imperial Hwy, which took place this past weekend and included special giveaways for guests. Additional grand openings in recent months included Milpitas and Lancaster, California, in October, and Roseville, California, in August.
With more locations open and in development, Café 86 invites franchise candidates seeking a differentiated dessert concept with strong brand recognition and a unique menu to connect with their team to start the ownership conversation. Franchise buyers can expect comprehensive franchise support, including training, marketing resources, and operational guidance.
