A Thai restaurant in Daylesford will shut it doors until further notice after a car crashed through the front of the building this afternoon.
The car crashed into Red Ginger Thai Restaurant on Albert Street shortly before 4pm.
No one was injured and there were no customers in the restaurant at the time. Staff were at the back of the restaurant preparing for the evening’s service.
Daylesford Police Sergeant Matthew Flood said investigations into the incident were ongoing, but it appeared the driver put their foot onto the accelerator and went forward instead of backward.
Sergeant Flood said CFA, SES, police and Hepburn Shire Council assessed the scene and removed the car from the restaurant.
Emergency services members assessed the structural integrity of the building and concluded some work would need to be completed on the inside.
Ambulance Victoria attended the scene and confirmed there were no injuries.
Red Ginger Thai Restaurant shared a photo of the incident on its Facebook page with the comment: “No need to say that we will be closed for a while. Every one is OK which is the main thing”.
