Yum Cha with ATFT and win movie tickets to The Kids Are All Right!

Would you like a day out with ATFT?

[competition is now closed. winners announced here.]

*UPDATE* – Due to unforeseen circumstances, there is a slight changes to the competition. Hopscotch Films has just informed me that the movie double passes are only available for Monday to Friday normal sessions. Hence, we can’t really use it on Saturday after Yum Cha. But the outing is still going ahead, I will still be in city for Yum Cha whoever is interested to join me and I will pass the tickets along to the winners on that day and you can go and check out the movie at your own leisure. My sincere apologies for the inconvenience.

Despite I am a giant at 6ft2 tall and outspoken on the interweb, but I am actually quite an introvert in real life. And I also know there are a lot of ATFT readers out there who are just like myself, lurking on my blog and too shy to make comments while I am secretly feeling the love and support from you guys. I guess we just need that opportunity to break the ice, don’t you think? Hence, I am breaking my inner-shyness and would like to invite ATFT readers to spend a Saturday with me, douse ourselves in food and laughter.

A day with strangers who I never met? Am I out of my mind? Yes I am and probably end up a table for one! But hey, that’s how the secret dinner started and it is now a phenomenon! So work with me you gorgeous gorgeous friendly readers out there! (Not twisting your arms or anything…)

Here I would like to invite 5 ATFT readers (you can bring a guest) to join us (of course my beloved food bloggers are welcome too!) on 11th September 2010 to spend a day with me over some good Dim Sims, then complimentary movie ticket to watch The Kids Are Alright (we don’t have to talk in the cinema if you insist), or even just come and pick my brain on food photography and food blogging. I myself am actually quite looking forward to the movie, it’s being dubbed as the next “Little Miss Sunshine”, gosh I love that movie!

If you think you are ready for a fun filled day and I am sure it will, here’s what you need to do:

THE SCHEDULE

Date – 11th September 2010
11.00am – Yum Cha at Marigold Restaurant

Sypnosis:

THE KIDS ARE ALL RIGHT
Director: Lisa Cholodenko Cast: Julianne Moore, Annette Bening, Mark Ruffalo, Mia Wasikowska

It's being dubbed as the next 'Little Miss Sunshine'. A sexy comedy of errors about a very modern family. The All goods are a close family experiencing life’s typical ups and downs: 18-year old daughter Joni (Wasikowska) is heading off to Stanford University and starting to distance herself from her parents; 14-year-old Laser is hanging out with a deadbeat friend who constantly leads him into trouble. The only difference is that this family has two mums. Jules (Julianne Moore) and Nic (Bening) have been together for years, deeply in love, and had both children through artificial insemination.

This loving but strained home life is thrown into comic disarray when the kids track down their biological donor-Dad, Paul (Ruffalo), and invite him home for dinner. Paul is a bachelor whose sudden longing for a family introduces an interesting sexual dynamic to the not-quite-ordinary equation of the Allgoods. At first Joni is so happy to have a cool, handsome dad like Paul. But soon enough she comes to realise that Paul is fun loving but lacks self-control and when he starts sleeping with one of her mums chaos reigns.

In cinemas 2nd September, 2010.

    - I’m just starting out with my own food blog and would love to be able to talk in person with you about food blogging (and food)

    - Adventurous eater, will gladly order all the obscure dim sum dishes no one else ever dares to get (providing either companionship or much amusement, depending on your point of view)

    - I just moved back to Sydney after 15 years so it’s hard to find foodies willing to have dim sum with me :(

    - I’m fairly short at 5’3″ so I can average out your height

It sounds like a brilliant way to start a weekend :)

Would be lovely to meet like-minded peeps to talk about food and food photography without seeing any glazed eyes .. reminisce over some dumplings .. and also to maybe finally find some amazing yum cha in Sydney? It has been lacklustre of late and I am wondering where the perfect har gau are lurking …

Also, I’m 5″2 so will also help with averaging out the height stakes :)

I would love to come to Yum Cha with you and other food loving people. I just want to try all those weird dishes that none of my friends will let me order. Plus, I love to talk about food and simply drive everyone around me mad so meeting other food obsessive people would be wonderful.
