ATFT turns 2 & someone is going to be a happy goose!

Let’s toast!

Last night, while I was in the Bistro CBD’s kitchen, manically pan frying 20 pork bellies in 4 skillets at the same time, with oil spluttering everywhere, trying to feed 69 hungry mouths at the Food Bloggers’ Dinner Event, A Table For Two has quietly turned 2 years old.

I would never have dreamed about cooking in a professional kitchen two years ago, and the opportunity would never have came without this humble blog, and this humble blog would never have been so active for the last two years without my loyal readers. And that’s you!

I want to keep it short but sweet and from the bottom of my heart, I would like to thank you all for your support with your witty comments and emails, and to those I’ve met through the blog, thank you for your friendship and become one big fat happy family.

I strongly believe in “giving back”. So to celebrate ATFT’s 2 year old birthday, I would like to reward and give one of my readers anywhere around the world, a brand new KitchenAid Artisan Mixer. You can choose the colour of course. If you think your old mixer in the kitchen is on the way out, or you always dreamt about making those pretty macarons without having to whisk egg white by hand, here’s what you have to do:

Oh, Billy, how nice of you! Rarely ever do people give back to their readers — expressing only a “thanks” that no longer means anything after a while. It’s great to know you actually care about us, so let’s keep being a big fat happy family shall we? Cheers to many more years to come!

    Hi Billy
Congrats on the 2nd birthday for Table for Two… I have been following and saving your posts for much of that time. Particular thanks for the Malaysian posts that have been the inspiration for a trip for my husband and I early next year!

Such an exciting competition and a fabulous blog, and one I am more than happy to retweet to others.

The fact that you can take your hobby and turn it into something that you’re able to make a living out of, and also share with others is something that many people would be very envious of.

Keep up the great work, and good luck with the competition.

P.S. The only way to go with the sexiest kitchen whitegood one can get is Fire Engine Red!

To be honest, I have not heard of this blog before but happy birthday anyway. But it’s nice to know that you’re a Malaysian Chinese because I am too. :D

Congratulations on your birthday! I have just started adding basic recipes to my blog as I love cooking and one day would like to turn it into a cook book and maybe open a simple ‘food mum used to make’ restaurant.

I currently have my Mum’s old Kenwood Chef from the 70s – the heavy metal ones with the glass bowl. WHile it still works, the motor is getting slower and it no longer locks down meaning I have to hold it in place when using so this prize would be very useful.

I am turning 40 next month, and I am still a disastrous baker. I baked a cake for my boyfriend when I was in school, with icing, because it was his birthday. The icing was bitter because I used too much colouring, and grainy because I used castor sugar (I didn’t know about icing sugar). That poor boy ate it all.
The next time I baked a butter cake – how hard can putting together one pound of butter, one pound of sugar and one pound of flour be – it turned out hard and tasteless. But for some perverse reason, and because I was craving butter cake, I ate it up all by myself in one weekend. When I saw the scene when the parents ate and ate, and turned into pigs in Miyazaki’s Spirited Away, I thought of me eating that horrible butter cake.
Anyway, I want to bake and take gorgeous photographs, and I guess I’d need a proper mixer. I’ve bought a digital weight measure, and I’m going to measure precisely and not open the oven doors. Maybe there is a baker in me…and I am craving a good ol fashioned rich butter cake; a plain one with no icing or chocolate marbled effect, or orange lashings.
Congratulations on turning two. I loved your peanut biscuit slide show; it inspired me to learn how to put one together.

I hesitate only for a few moments. Wondering what treat to feed my new Red Devil on.
    Red Devil sighs patiently.
Then suddenly from the depths of its bowl.
    I hear an echo.
Red Devil says get on with it woman I need a feed.
I start beating furiously a cake fit for a devil of a friend

Congratulations on entering the terrible twos :) Your flock of avid followers are a tribute to the amazing impact you’ve had on the delectable dalliances of your fellow foodies right across the globe.

My particular favourites are your blogs on Malaysia and Cambodia because they take me back to all the time I’ve spent in those countries and tickle those soft and gushy places they have in my heart.

Keep blogging! Hungry foodies everywhere are depending on it.

I love the kitchenmaid but cannot afford one. The red makes the machine go faster, the food tastes so much better and oh my goodness how cool would it look in my kitchen. if I had one I could make all of your food look good!

  86. Brandy August 27, 2010 at 3:14 am #

Congrats on the anniversary! I stumbled on your blog using the tool from Firefox and have been hooked on the recipes section. Although it is feeding my addiction to food centric blogs…..is that weird??

Happy Birthday To You! I’d sing it out loud if I could. You must be very proud – we, the readers are! A Kitchen Aid? Seriously? I would love, love, love that. There are so many recipes that I’d love to attempt but they don’t get a second look because it all just seems too hard, especially now that I have 2 children under 2. Just the presence of a Kitchen Aid will catapult my kitchen from DRAB to FAB!!!!

I just realised you, as in, your good self is giving this delicious KitchenAid Artisan Mixer away! How generous. There are some excellent comments and posts above from many who would love to win this delightful, professional Artisan mixer. Please remember, it should go to a home where it will be loved, adored and appreciated. Proudly displayed on the kitchen bench where it will blend with the preferred red hand towels already adorning the kitchen scape. Happy 2nd birthday and thank you for giving back to your enthusiastic, appreciative followers.
