ATFT turns 2 & someone is going to be a happy goose!

Let’s toast!

Last night, while I was in the Bistro CBD’s kitchen, manically pan frying 20 pork bellies in 4 skillets at the same time, with oil spluttering everywhere, trying to feed 69 hungry mouths at the Food Bloggers’ Dinner Event, A Table For Two has quietly turned 2 years old.

I would never have dreamed about cooking in a professional kitchen two years ago, and the opportunity would never have came without this humble blog, and this humble blog would never have been so active for the last two years without my loyal readers. And that’s you!

I want to keep it short but sweet and from the bottom of my heart, I would like to thank you all for your support with your witty comments and emails, and to those I’ve met through the blog, thank you for your friendship and become one big fat happy family.

I strongly believe in “giving back”. So to celebrate ATFT’s 2 year old birthday, I would like to reward and give one of my readers anywhere around the world, a brand new KitchenAid Artisan Mixer. You can choose the colour of course. If you think your old mixer in the kitchen is on the way out, or you always dreamt about making those pretty macarons without having to whisk egg white by hand, here’s what you have to do:

Happy Birthday! I don’t have a stand mixer, I’ve been saving up to get one-this would be fantastic!

I am not good at writing poems on the fly so I would just say that I always wanted one of these mixers. It would be so much easier using this to make pie crust and a whole host of other things. Thank you for the chance

While it is incredibly generous that you would give away such a gorgeous (and sought-after) piece of kitchen kitsch, shouldn’t ATFT be the one getting the presents?

Maybe a batch of cupcakes would come your way if the Artisan ended up in my kitchen… ;)

My Grandmother (she was the story book kind, cuddly, wise and warm) always had an apple cherry pie cooling on the kitchen window waiting for me (my favourite). She baked with love, and a humble wooden spoon. Grandma instilled in my mother a love of baking which Mum began to pass on to me when I was 2. I sat on the kitchen floor, measuring flour by the fistful and wiping most of the butter in my hair – but at the end of the afternoon we sat down to eat our delicious creation . . . an apple cherry pie. Mum taught me with beaters that had to be wound by hand. I want to teach my daughter to make an apple cherry pie (which is now her favourite) with as much love, but way, way, way less effort using a shiny red KitchenAid Artisan Mixer (my favourite).

Creative I am not I will say that owning a Kitchen Aid mixer has made my life 1000X easier and if I won this fabulous one I’d continue the passing on of love and give my starter model to my Sister in Law so she can discover what amazing machines they are. I have a love affair with mine for sure. It’s earned a permanet place on my counters despite them being freakishly small. I even made it an outfit (aka cover). It’s also been the focus in a number of photoshoots and is so cool that even the monsters Um kids I mean want to get involved and cook with me. I use mine all the time and can’t wait to get the attachments to try my hand a pasta making and chopping with it.

I’ve heard all about this KitchenAid
But never will I be able to afford it :(
Here is a special recipe! Happy Birthday!

    Dish:
A Table for Two Just for You

    Ingredients:
    - Billy
    - Canon DSLR 5D mkII Camera
    - Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 lens
    - Scrumptious food
    - Adobe Lightroom
    - Adobe Photoshop
    - Whip

    Method:
    1. Bring Billy to the boil.
    2. Surround Billy with scrumptious food.
    3. Make sure Billy is holding his Canon DSLR 5D mkII Camera with the Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 lens.
    4. Take the whip and use it to make sure Billy takes some decent photos of the food.
    5. Using Adobe Lightroom, transfer the photos, adjust colours and crop (and let him do whatever, he’s the expert)
    6. Open Adobe photoshop to add final touches, just like the icing on the cake.
    7. Put it all in the oven for 2 years at 180 degrees celsius.
    8. Enjoy A Table for Two.

With all the baking done in my house for all of our birthdays, you think hubby would have got me one of these brilliant mixers (especially after all the hints/nudges) I keep giving but he just hasn’t bitten. So PLEASEEEEEE can I have a lovely red one.

  21. Erma October 9, 2010 at 12:32 pm #

I am ashamed of my current (handheld) mixer. It gets hidden in the cupbourd after every use… Sometimes I neglect to wipe it down…*sigh.
BUT the Artisan Mixer would have pride of place in my kitchen…. right next to the electrical outlet, ready to use when the desire to bake a cake arises!

Happy Birthday ATFT! I’d bake you a cake, but the batter would probably still be lumpy since I’d be mixing it with my humble little handheld mixer. I’ve been wanting to take up the revered hobby of bread-making also, but alas, I need the dough for a mixer to knead the dough. Har-har.

  32. Adelaide October 11, 2010 at 5:41 pm #

Happy Birthday 2 you!! I desperately want a KitchenAid, as an amateur cake maker I’d love to make my own cakes at home with the best tool possible rather than my current method of hand stirring and folding everything in my mixing bowl! Living the life of a uni student the dream of owning one is very distant and the love invested in my cakes would be passed on to all those who enjoy them!
Please please please and a tasty treat would be my thankyou to you!

I want my own KA so badly! I got to use my mom’s while I was living in the US and I can’t even begin to explain how valuable of a tool it is to someone who does as much baking as I do. The stand mixer I use now can’t even handle mixing bread dough without sounding like it’s dying!

If I win one (or have to buy one) I’d choose the pistachio colour and she would be my new baby, I’d even let her sleep in my bed if she got too scared at night in the kitchen alone, and I’d dress her up in pretty princess dresses to attend birthday parties. Just like my 5 year old daughter (except she actually doesn’t sleep in the kitchen). ;)

Wish you a very Happy Birthday! I am a little late to the party but hope you have many more delicious and delightful birthdays. Love your blog and have been following it for a while and I think it is fantastic that you are offering such an amazing giveaway.

I have been baking using my Phillips hand mixer that I bought in Singapore 9 years ago (yep, looks daggy but stiff going strong). I have always dreamed of having a Kitchenaid mixer on my countertop and ever since buying a house in Sydney, home renos always come first. I have been telling myself “Kitchen” first, “Kitchenaid Mixer” later and am being very patient. If I win this, it will blow my mind :-)

I am in desperate need of a mixer, my current one keeps complaining of sore arms! (Please note that my current mixer is one of my 5 children that I managed to con in to beating with my small electric hand beaters!)

  43. Mary-Anne October 12, 2010 at 10:43 pm #

I would LOVE a MIXER; i’ve been spending the last couple of years using lthose small electric mixers but find them really messy and always result in doing by hand (which kills ‘spesh when beating egg whites).

ATFT has always fired me up to keep cooking and finding new places to eat everytime i fly back home to syd!

  45. Dean Bleasdale October 13, 2010 at 6:28 pm #

I would love one of these mixers. For years I have done mixing by hand, but my wrists are not good these days, so it’s time to spoil myself with a modern marvel machine like this mixer.

  46. Cheryl October 14, 2010 at 12:29 am #

Firstly, thank you for opening up this opportunity to win a KitchenAid Artisan Mixer!

I’ve always loved to bake, and I only managed to get afford a small mixer of my own two years ago. However, one can always tell the quality of a good mixer once it’s put to use. Though I have to make do with what I have now, it would be fantastic to win a KitchenAid mixer to be one step closer to my dream of becoming a professional baker and chef! Almost every food blogger that I admire uses a KitchenAid mixer, distinct by the deep beautiful red and of course, the powerful sound when it’s turned on.

Definitely a must-have for every serious baker who prizes his/her creations on quality!

Will greatly appreciate any help to get one step closer to my dream – with a KitchenAid Artisan Mixer!

Once upon a time, a little girl spent a lot of her childhood being torn up between spending time with her two parents (divorced).

She spent a lot of happy memories in the kitchen with her mother making almond biscuits, and her mother would let her lick the whisks once they were done with the tools.

Flash forward 20 years, I would love to have the enjoyment and occasional trip down memory lane of “cleaning” this kitchen-aid.

Plus it would help in my quest of perfecting my sad attempts at macarons!

    2 years ago, a table for two laid a new blog;
A sprinkling of aspiration, generous helping of dialog.
Adding amateur cooks, hanging out for a kitchenaid
Making sure we never wilt, as we taste talent….. homemade!

    Happy 2nd Birthday ATFT ! !

I throw my whisker up in the air somtimes,
    Saying Ayoo, No Problemo
Gonna win a Kitchenaid Mixer and Celebrate
    Saying Ayoo
    Baby lets go

I came to cook, cook, cook, cook
    I hit the kitchen
‘Cause that’s my, plans, plans, plans, plans
I’m bakin with all my favorite
    Brands, brands, brands, brands
Give me space for all my pans, pans, pans, pans
Fire up that big red mixer
Cause it goes on and on and on
And it goes on and on and on

    Happy Birthday TTFT, you’re Dynamite!

    after they saw the tweet.
    Flossie would be her name
    Creator of sweet.

    ATFT was recently one
But amidst feeding bloggers some stew suddenly realised it had already turned two
Lets raise our glasses in merriment and glee and look forward to ATFT turning 3.

I hear voices in my head, they tell me that if I have a Kitchenaid Artisan I will be an amazing cook; I believe the voices……I NEED to believe those voices……..

A kitchen aid mixer in red,
would leave my old hand mixer for dead,
so gorgeous and simply the best,
better quality than all the rest,
how I’d love to make this my own,
and give this stand mixer a loving home!
In just 2 years you really grew,
Happy Birthday A Table For Two!
Best wishes for the year ahead,
while you keep tearing your opposition to shreds!

Twins Lara and Jana like to bake,
    everyone loves what they make,
    Their finances are tight,
    school loans take a bite,
a kitchen aid would help them not break!

    Dear “A Table for Two”

Greetings Billy, and Happy Birthday to “A Table for Two”.

A Table for Two is a foodie’s internet dream come true, thank you.

I have another dream to share, which complements ATFT – a dream of peace on Earth and enough exciting and glorious looking, tasty food for all people on Earth. Speaking from my own little plot of land, I could happily live on bread, ice-cream, soup, spaghetti, desserts, candy, and biscuits and cakes.

We don’t have a mixer at home at the moment because when moving house, somehow our old hand mixer got broken. An Artisan Kitchen Aid multi-functional stand mixer for mixing, whisking and baking, and even for making dough, pasta and ice-cream would be a life-saving tool for me, because I can then whip up delicious cakes and other beaten foods and share them with friends and family, as well as eat substantial amounts myself.

The hands free 350 watt Artisan Kitchen Aid mixer is so powerful, versatile and easy to use, that as the proud user of such mixer, I would be transformed from a woeful being bereft of cake and biscuit baking to a wonderful mixer cook, worthy of A Table for Two. This awesome mixer also has accessories which turn the mixer into a complete food processing system, able to make breadcrumbs, sausages, and sliced and pureed fruit and vegetables.

Rest assured that my referrals of culinary consumers galore to the Artisan Kitchen Aid mixer and to the blog “A Table for Two”, and my “gastronomical” mixing experience with the Artisan Kitchen Aid mixer, will be highly motivated by the current absence of a mixing “friend”in my home, and by my eagerness to share the sampling of the divine food photography, travel, reviews, competitions and blogs presented by A Table for Two.

With an Artisan Kitchen Aid mixer I will proudly mix and cook mixed or blended wonders, at least for a table for two.

To get my dream going – of worldwide peace and enough delicious photogenic food for everyone to eat – I wish to acknowledge A Table for Two for show-casing food around the globe, and for honoring, appreciating and loving that which sustains Life and delights our senses – food.

Thank you Billy, for sharing your dream, and your skills, experience, knowledge, and humor, and your bits and bites.

May A Table for Two have a delicious 2nd birthday and many fruitful returns.

    Bon Appetit!!

    Celine

So my Girlfriend of 9 Months wants a KitchenAid rather than an engagement ring. Maybe I get a big fat Diamond set into it. THEN SHE CAN ONLY SAY YES. Thanks for the fun times ATFT. Happy 2 years and all the best for the rest.

    Happy Birthday to you,
    A Table for Two ,
    My tastebuds are ready,
For another year reading blogs from you!

The growling from my stomach whenever I open your webpage is akin to a werewolf at full moon, so you transform culinary inspiration into a complete “other world” personality change! Amazing work, Thank you :)

    A belated happy birthday Billy!
The blog is awesome, what else can I say!

A KitchenAid would be a dream come true, as I would finally be able to make a decent brioche! I have been trying for 2 months now by hand, and the stuff is inedible… Unacceptable for a French girl!

    Bisous!

Okay- I left this to the last minute- I have been trying to think of a creative comment since the comptetition was put online weeks ago. No luck, I guess I don’t have a creative gene in me but i do know I really want this prize. A kitchen aid would be like a little fairy in the kitchen- making light of bread dough and all the other things i enjoy making. My nan’s sunbeam she gave me (circa 1980) broke a fortnight ago and tears flowed. I know with this in the kithcen all calm would be restored. In return for such a prize it is incumbant on me to give back by ‘aiding’ someone else- i promise to bake regularly and donate it my local food relief service- i have been doing this but largely in an ad hoc way- with a kitchen aid at my side there would be no more excuses.
Thanks for a fantastic site and I look foward to many years to come of good food and pictures from you.

From a card my son gave me recently:
A good mother lets her kids lick the beaters… a great mother turns the mixer off first

  94. Melissa Vaughan October 21, 2010 at 10:43 pm #

My Boyfriend is begging you to give me this mixer, so that I can stop making cake jerky, HAPPY BIRTHDAY :)

ATFT turns 2 & if I don’t win this mixer, my goose will be cooked!

  96. Natalie brewer October 22, 2010 at 12:59 am #

I don’t want to have a lonely, solo dinner, so I’d use the KitchenAid Mixer to make sure I’d soon be dining at a table for two!
