Hi there ^^

I'm from vietnam but overseas at the moment. Your post about Hoi An really cheers me up ^^ I've never been to Hoi An myself, but will be there next Feb, so looking forward for the trip ^^

About "hot vit lon", I never take the yolk as it's too hard, but people say that's the most nutritious part, whatever, I always leave that piece over, simply can't bite it. The thing I like best about "hot vit lon" is the juice =P~ should have tried with some little strips of ginger ^^ You must be really brave to have the whole egg, I know some Vietnamese (in Vietnam) despite those hairy little embryos :P

Anw, thanks for coming and sharing ^^

Haha - your graphic description of balut is hilarious! You can get it in Sydney too you know, at certain places in Cabramatta as I've had it here. Agree that it's an acquired taste, in fact almost a suppressed memory for me. Best not to think about it too much I say.

Hoi An was another place I wanted to visit - especially as my good friends said they preferred it over Saigon, but you say it was even HOTTER than Saigon? Yeesh..

Hi Billy!

Just stumbled on your fantastic blog! Just would like to say that your recount on your Hot Vit Lon experience is the funniest out! I've grown up with eating these at a very young age and had no problem with it until I started studying my uni degree (Medical Science).. That was when I started learning about the body and yeah.. Couldn't really work up the appetite to eat them anymore now that I know each individual body part.. I just can't help it! But... I think I'll have a go at eating it again.

You definately make me want to go back to Vietnam again
