Victoria’s bushfire disaster is one of the most devastating tragedy in Australia history with death toll up to 181 and fear will rise up to 300 dead. Hundreds of Victorians are returning to towns to find their homes razed by the bushfires that blazed across the state, and now homeless. It is heart drenching to listen to those sad stories on the news, my thoughts goes out to the victims and their loved ones.

The whole country is so supportive, big corporates and organisations are already taking part actively, donating millions of dollars to help the bushfire victims. Coles is also lending a helping hand by donating all the profiles this Friday goes to the Red Cross bushfire appeal. Please support the appeal, and do your food shopping tomorrow at Coles, any cent counts.

According to the Red Cross website:
“Brotherhood of St Lawrence is not accepting donations of any kind for this event at this time” and “Smith Family not currently accepting donations of any kind specifically for this event”.
They suggest to contact the State Emergency Services of Victoria about donations of goods – email ses.relief@ses.vic.gov.au – or the Bushfire Non-cash Assistance Line – phone 1800 227 228.

@Kt: I think those words are bit ambiguous, because on top there is a paragraph advise people not to donate goods,
    “Please do not donate goods
We are not accepting goods because it often costs more to collect and transport than to purchase from local businesses. These businesses have often also been badly impacted and can benefit from the activity. Currently we are focused on people’s immediate needs. If we identify a specific need we will make a public call.”
I think Coles would probably have a mutual agreement with Red Cross before taking their own donation appeal action. I am sure Coles appeal is legit, even Red Cross is not accepting the donation now, but I am sure the donation will get to the victim in one way or another.
