As you may have noticed, the Chinese New Year festive mood is in full swing here at ATFT! 5 more sleeps to go, I can’t wait to have friends up here in the Coast to celebrate and usher in the Year of Tiger with more delicious food and treats. I have to admit I am bit slow and disorganised this year, and actually haven’t finalised what I am going to cook for the dinner banquet this year. Yee Sang is a must, apart from that my mind is drawing a blank. But I am just glad the cookies making phase are all done, ready to deliver to my reader this afternoon.
It was a good experience to spend 2 days over the weekend, making 200 hundred pineapple tarts. It was not an easy job, but I did have fun making them, and I have also decided to video recording the whole process to share with you all on how to make them. I hope this simple step-by-step video will help those who attempt to give this recipe a try and make their own. Please do share your experience if you are going to make them and would like to see the end result and let me know what you think of it.
You can find the Pineapple Tarts recipe here.
Till then, hope everyone is eating well and have a happy Chinese New Year with lots of fortune and prosperity!

Hi Billy
Thank you so much for the pineapple tarts! We tried some and my family really enjoyed it. It is very delicious and not overly sweet, and gosh such big pieces, that’s very generous
We’ll try to make the 200 pieces or more like 190 pieces now last until CNY.
Here’s wishing you a very happy and prosperous Chinese New Year. Happy baking!
Cheers

Wow.. so nice to see the video on how to make the pineapple tarts and it’s a different way than the way my mom and I used to make, we make into balls which is called as Nastar in Indonesia (actually the real name is “Ananas Bollen” – Dutch language).
Love the background song in the video
What’s the song’s title?

Hi first time commenting here. Love your photography.
This is a cool way to make pineapple tarts. For me, I used a pineapple tart mould. A bit tedious but I like the shape of the classic look.

Great recipe! Had great fun making them but I find it hard to make them all the same size and its almost impossible for me to roll the pineapple jam because its so sticky. After rolling it and baking it the crust its too thick around it.
Wah, you make Pineapple tarts look so easy – looking at the effortless way you roll each morsel, I would think you do this for a living! Gong Hei Fatt Choy!
Once again dude, great video. Actually, seeing the part about bringing the filling together with the dough is far more instructive in video than what could possibly be said in word. Not only that, it shows how effortless it can be!
I’m a fan of your video tutes
wah, no need to find mold! just roll by hand and use a fork! and it looks the same! i have some confidence to try this out. if i make it i will def let you know how it turns out. ive never tasted kueh nastar but i cannot wait to try it. i think i can imagine very well!
