How could you not like Cau Lau? I was in Vietnam myself a few weeks ago and loved the stuff. Shame about it being made from special well water and ash, which means you can only have it in Hoi An. Hoi An is worth staying more than one night for the tailoring (though I guess, being a guy that doesn't excite you as much). Looking forwards to your Cambodian posts (featuring fish amok I can imagine) as I travelled there also

Well - I would've guessed that implement was a flimsy weapon used in street fights.. Pretty ingenious little thing as a bottle opener though.

Glad you made it to Quan An Ngon and liked it. Gosh - makes me so hungry looking at your amazing photos of the food. Wish we had such cheap Vietnamese food here!

Quan An Ngon has moved to a new place. next time when you visit Saigon, you probably need to find their new address!
In Vietnamese standard, the price of Quan An Ngon is a little bit expensive!

I absolutely love the bottle opener! I couldn't guess what it was, but when I saw the photo, it was an "ahhhh" moment when I realised it was obviously designed *just* for that purpose! Also, the squid looks delicious.
