Abercrombie Hotel – Chippendale, Sydney CBD

The {GBSC} is back and we are having a fabulous Gaytime! Since the first outing at Food Society, our little GBSC legion has grown from 5 attendees to 8! Food, booze and toosh, do bring the gay boys out of the woods. This time, we leave the frocks at home, dressed down and hit the local pub for some real man’s food. Man up, face the deep fried demon at Abercrombie Hotel! The name Abercrombie Hotel probably doesn’t ring a bell for many people, but I am sure everybody will immediately clicked if I referring it as that tired looking pub at the corner of Broadway and Abercrombie Street, right across from UTS college. After closing down for more than a year, the hotel has been resurrected and reopened mid last year. This is actually my very first time at the Abercrombie, without knowing what it actually looked like before the refurbishment, the hotel now is a funky little joint, heaving with locals and university students from across the road. The decor is quirky, aiming to attract the younger bunch, booth seating covered in retro olive green, wall mounted bookshelves filled with books is an instant mini library for the bookworms. Then there is an open air beer garden at the back which is a lot more spacious with more seating. We score the last booth right at the back with knee high table which is a little impractical for eating, let alone trying to squeeze 8 fully grown men into a box. We eventually congregate between two bar tables and collect as many stools as we can lay...
