Thank you for being so patient with me. I know many of you have been emailing me, asking me about the next food photography workshops. I sincerely apologise that I didn’t get back to you sooner as it wasn’t my intentions to ignore. I’ve actually been doing a lot of homework for the last couple of months, trying to kickstart the next workshops. However, I simply couldn’t give you an answer until I nailed down all the details and confident enough to run the next one. Trust me, to find a venue that has a TV or Projector for me to run the workshop, a space that has characteristic for photography purposes, and also that serves good food is not an easy task. Well, you’ll be glad to know that the wait is finally over for those who are in Sydney and Melbourne.

I am happy to announce that the food photography & styling workshop this year will be held at Studio Neon in Sydney, and Raw Materials Studio in Melbourne. Both great spaces with great chefs who will definitely spoil us with scrumdiddlyumptious lunch. And also, I have changed the format of the workshop slightly this year. I found most of my students love to learn about everything and came to both workshops (beginners and food styling) over two days. So  to save everyone from all the hassles of  coming both days, I’ve decided to combine both workshops into one full day intensive workshop. As I also found some students who only came to food styling workshop were still finding their footsteps in photography and learning how to use the cameras, that’s why is better for everyone to learn from the basics up before we continue with hands on food styling.

This workshop is designed for those who would like to learn about food photography, whether are you are a foodie, a photography enthusiast or you want to turn food photography/styling into a career. We start the class with some photography basics, learn how to use your camera other than ‘AUTO’ mode, master the aperture/ISO/composition and most importantly, the white balance. Then we get hands-on with food styling using props, learn about texture, lighting and how to convey story through food. I like to keep the workshops casual and a little unconventional, so we will also get to sit down for lunch and tea break where we mingle and throw questions at each other, that’s the best way to learn in my opinion. We finish the workshop with post-processing session using Lightroom, where you will learn how to turn the photos taken from the day into an impressive portfolio.
