Get your jelly on #09 – ROCK YOU

Day 9.
I scream, you scream, we scream for POP ROCKS ICE CREAM!
I’ve been experimenting a lot using pop rocks lately, trying to find ways how to incorporate them into different type of desserts, hot and cold. Pop rocks in dessert is nothing new really, Adriano Zumbo uses it, Heston Blumenthal uses it; but I still find them fascinating and elevate an extra level of excitement when they start popping in the mouth as a surprise.
I actually used pop rocks in my dessert for the demonstration at Masterchef Live and some of the audience got to taste the dessert. The look on their faces when the pop rocks started popping in their mouths are priceless! I guess that’s why I love making desserts, they are always full of surprises and I can be the magician.
Here’s a very simple recipe by using pop rocks with ice cream. I simply chopped up some chocolate and mixed it in with vanilla ice cream, then rolled the ice cream in pop rocks. It looks just like choc chips from the outlook, but it is a party in the mouth! It is a good trick for your next dinner party, I am sure all your guests will think you are a genius!
But will the pop rocks jiggle?
And make sure you come back each day for a new tit-illating video! Seriously, there are some really good ones that you simply can’t take your eyes off!
ROCK YOU Ingredients 2 cups vanilla ice cream 30g dark chocolate, roughly chopped 1/2cup chocolate coated pop rocks Method 1. grease the mould and lined with baking paper. 2. Mix the choc chips into vanilla ice cream and give it a good mix. 3. Fill the mould with the ice cream, transfer to fridge and let it set overnight. 4. Take it out of the mould, peel of the baking paper, and roll the ice cream on pop rocks and make sure is well coated.
