I have a date with Spring.
But a little piece of winter is here to stay. Don’t worry, is a good thing – especially when food involved. Due to popular demand, the Merivale Winter Feast has been extended until the end of September so more people can grab this opportunity to experience some of the best feast Sydney has to offer.
I think it is a fantastic news because I’ve been away overseas most of August and only had one chance to take advantage of this $35 dinner offer at Teppenyaki. Have to say I am still a Merivale’s virgin and I can’t wait to try the other restaraunts and guess what! I have already been invited to the next Merivale winter feast outing… and all I can say, “I am excited!”
But first, let’s toast!

Any excuses will do for Merivale to throw another awesome party. Thanks to Candice from the Merivale group, a stringent group of foodbloggers have been invited to the Spring Party at Ivy Bar to cheer on the extension of Winter Feast offer and also to meet the new kids on the block, Felix and Jasper.
We are fortunate to have Ivy Bar’s sommelier, Franck Moreau, to introduce us to these two Merivale’s new wines. First we try Jasper, a Sauvignon Blanc from the New Zealand’s Marlborough region. It is refreshingly light and dry, perhaps a little too light for my taste. I personally prefer Felix, a full-bodied shiraz from the Barossa Valley with great oaky and spice undertone. I can see myself sipping this with a nice juicy slice of angus sirloin.
Clockwise L to R: deep fried squid; Jasper - refreshing sauvignon blanch from New Zealand's Marlborough region; vegetarian sushi inside-out; patrons mingling at The Den.
Wagyu Penny Burger - Mini wagyu beef burgers with cucmber, tomato and spicy house
“Let’s find some food,” I like the sound of that when Candice suggested to take us for a quick tour of the kitchens to check out what’s on the menu. A troop of foodbloggers with chunky cameras marched across the bar into Mad Cow‘s and Teppanyaki‘s kitchen can be quite a sight and definitely raised a few eyebrows. Canapes and little morsels are free flowing throughout the night and I am lucky enough to land my hands on a few.
“I read your blogs,” a kitchenhand at Teppanyaki shouted out as simon, helen and me are busy mobbing a few plates of canapes on the kitchen bench. Feeling happy being complimented and awkward at the same time.
Clockwise L to R: Gorgeous garden setting in the heart of Ivy Bar; San daniele prosciutto, buffalo mozzarella, baby basil, rosemary oil; plump fresh Salmon sushi

The canapes are some good teasers and definitely have my tastebud craving for more. If you like what you see on this post, I am sure you know what to do. But don’t wait, offer ends end this month; put it in your diary and lock it in!
And if you are interested to take Felix and Jasper home, go and visit newly opened The Bottle Shop at Ivy.
Thanks to Candice once again for the invitation.

Wow, you’ve got some awesome photos there! I especially love the inside-out sushi – it’s a great option for people like me who aren’t keen on the nori and I love how it looks so clean and fresh. Looks like a good night!
