Go Poh on Masterchef Australia!

MALAYSIA BOLEH!
The sweat,
the greasy hair,
the pastry stroking,
the crying love affair,
the scientific peas,
the “Chop! Chop!” time,
or perhaps that “Cooking for life” cringey comment…
Sadly Masterchef Australia is on its final week with only 5 contestants left.
You must be so sick of these 3 words by now: Foodblogger, Malaysian, Masterchef.
First thing I noticed when I become a foodblogger was there are SO MANY MALAYSIAN FOODBLOGGERS out there!!! And they are all addicted to Masterchef Australia TV show! Shameless I am also a big fan of this TV show, so as my fellow blogger friends including ChocolateSuze and GrabYourFork, religiously glued to the Masterchef online chat, a real time chat with fiery comments and swears while talking screaming at the screen when the show is on every night.
There’s 20, and now down to 5. A few of my favorites are still in the final 5 including Julie and of course, another Malaysia expat, Poh! I like how Poh dare to be different and creative, and let her artisitc flair shines in her cooking. Not to mention, those Malaysian cooking of hers are making me homesick. And guess what, I am going back to Malaysia in 2 weeks times! HELLO MALAYSIAN FOOD! HERE I COME!!!
Hence as a fellow Malaysian food lover, I am all for POH!
GO POH!!!
加油!
(pronounce: Jee-arr Yoouu – the encouragement cheers in Chinese, also meaning ‘add oil’ in Chinese, how approrpiate!)
So who do you want to see to be the first winner of Masterchef Australia?

A Table For Two (ATFT) is Billy Law's food blog that features best eats in Sydney and around the world with drool-worthy food photography to salivate your appetite. I also throw in a smidgen of my food and travel photography for good measure. Billy Law also happened to be a contestant on MasterChef Australia 2011.

Poh has replaced Lucas and Julie to become my favorite contestant. I love how crazy she is! Not to mention her artistic flair and versatility. Sadly she attracts a lot of bashing on the Masterchef forums. Go Poh!
pohleaseeee, but yes everyone has a soft spot for Poh! Have fun in Malaysia, I still remember the awesome food I had in Penang!

i do admire poh’s willingness to try new things and never going for the safe option. i’ve always had a soft spot for julie but realistically i think justine is a special to win.

How many chances are they going to give Poh? When she first tried out they didn’t like her dish so she was allowed to run home to mummy to get ingredients for a different dish. Then she was eliminated, then brought back. Now it looks as if she may win. Although I like her I think it is unfair that this is her third chance when Julie and Chris have not had that same preferential treatment. And, to me, that is exactly what it is. Preferential Treatment! She should be GONE. Either, Julie or Chris will have at least earned the title of Australia’s Master Chef and not by getting 3 chances to do so.
Poh could plate up a boiled egg with tomato sauce and still not be eliminated. All the advantage and a disastrous presentation: but who goes home? Not Poh.
Go Poh. I hope you will win! Top two. Well done!!!!
I am ecstatic that Poh got through. I don’t think her dishes were as funky as George’s reaction on the show. He calls himself a chef an a creative person! Crawl out of your cultural hole! Poh’s dishes and book would be great for the American and Japanese market! Not to mention China and south east Asia! Great job Poh! I’m rooting for you!
@Sam: I think Julie just had her preferential treatment, don’t you think? She didn’t even plate up her dishes like the two others. Poh is consistent with her cooking and she got eliminated was due to her lack of leadership in the challenge, which got nothing to do with her cooking what so ever. So I do think she deserves a second chance to come back.
I AM FOR POH!! like you can’t tell?! LOL
From the looks of it Poh will win. If youve been watching movies lately she has an ad in a wine valley, ….she deserves it anyway. She is creative, daring and confident!
I sure hope Poh wins! I’m her fan, I think she cooks really well, innovative, witty, go Poh! Having said that, I’m surprised that Julie is still in the competition. She cooks crap! I wonder if there is a controversy for Julie to win here.
.-= ai shiang´s last blog ..Get Something for Nothing =-.
That’s POH like it! I can’t believe she got through! I AM SOOOO HAPPY! And guiltily glad that Chris didn’t get through but WHO CARES? If , or I mean WHEN Poh wins, I’m going to be glad it’s someone NOT from the Eastern States that’s winning!
PLEASE! Pray for her!
Because Julie’s versing Poh, I think Poh has a better chance! That’s why I didn’t want Chris to get through! ;P… Coz he hated Kate and I liked Kate but I also LOVE POH!
Tinky Winky, Dipsy, LaLa, POH!
GO POH!
Go Poh, I have my money on you. You are the best. Do your very best. Remember to take the easy way out and DO NOT makes things complicated. Do not be over confident. You must win and to win you have to take the easiest path, not the hard one.
I am a great fan of your. You have returned. Lucky is on your side. Do it right and you will be WIN. It’s all about winning.
Julie and Chris are both great chefs but I think all they can cook is the common Aussie dishes. I don’t think they can make desserts without using chocolate and butter, whereas Poh is more a all-rounder. She can cook dishes and desserts for all, not just for those with sweet tooth. Don’t forget, Asian foods are more popular than any other foods in this world. GO POH! YOU DESERVE TO WIN.
GO POH, you are not only talented, inovative, criative and beautifull, you also dare to be different.
I wish you all the best. You deserve to win this competition
There is no doubt in my mind that you have a much better chance than Julie.
However my darling, be aware and be prepare for everything…
After last night shocking and unfair elimination of Chris over Julie, that did not finished any of her dishes and has such a poor dish presentation (didn’t they say that was important??!!!) even with all your amazing skills you can loose over a Julie’s sandwich. Hard to understand how she manage to be in the final.
GO POH! GO GO GO GIRL! YOU DESERVE THE TITLE OF MASTER CHEF AUSTRALIA.
I saw many ppl on different sites has been commenting on the masterchef australia (look at the forum in the official website.)
hehehe
Poh deserves to win because she has the palate and the talent…i agree that chris should be in the top 2 (looking at the previous series) however we werent there to taste the food during the judging therefore we cant say chris did better than julie based on presentation etc.just because he has been a strong contender in the past episodes does not mean he did well in the last few episodes hence maybe thats wat cause his elimination. the most important thing about cooking is the taste not the presentation or wat so ever, and poh has been the one who consistently achieve this, apart from being really creative and taking risks. chris is very strong in food presentation but that does not mean that his food taste superior than other ppl. i cant deny that she has the personality and ppl like to watch her, which added to the possibility of favouritism, but come on, the judges love justine to bits, and even cried during her elimination, isnt it obvious that they would love to keep her too if possible but they cant cos she did not do as well as the others. nobody cried when other contestants got eliminated. and they even offered her a job!!! and its not like poh is the only one who was offered a second chance. everyone kept saying that she’s lucky to be in the finale, come on, why cant ppl jus admit she has what it takes to be the first masterchef…i tink most ppl hated her because she has a funny grin and owes overreact with her expression and those chinese eyes etc…many ppl comment on her personality more than her cooking! just because she has a personality doesnt make her someone less talented than the others!
some even complaint that her asian food cooking is common among asians and any asians can do it, helooo…most of the italian and french etc cooking that the other contestants cook are common among their own culture too!!!
anyway i tink masterchef made the right choice…like they say, may the best chef wins, and julie stil has the potential to win so i tink we should just stop saying that we know the results and we are not going to watch the finale etc because i know, all of us ARE goin to watch it because we are a bunch or reality movies addicts hahaha why are we here on the first place, spending time writing comments on ppl unrelated to us!!!
@Sam – i don’t see you saying the same thing about justine and tom?! they too got brought back and given a second chance. although they were eliminated, justine still made it to the final 4. some other contestant might have been given the second chance when auditioning but it’s probably not shown cos they didnt get as far as poh. so get over it.
Sorry Poh. They misjudged you. I don’t believe Julie is a deserved winner. She shows her emotion to judge and indirectly begged them for this win.
Dear Sir/Ma’am
It is highly controversial decision for me as when Julie clearly detected Onion instead of shallots and judges tried to correct her, for me it was clear that judges made their mind who will win. She clearly lost it their, and when Poh tried to correct her decision she was not allowed to.
Not only that, Julie’s ways of creating drama was impossible for me to watch. She was called eliminator by other contestant because she was in the habit of making Puppy face and if that didn’t worked, making her eyes wet and face as if she is in a lot of agony. C’mon I m not saying she didn’t make good dishes but the drama was too much for me, always making puppy face and teary eyes when couple of time it was clear she is trying her best to make her self look miserable in front of the judges.
