Swine flu?! What Swine flu? Have to admit I rather enjoy seeing Swine Flew. (video by Grabyourfork)
This week gone rather quick especially when I am swamped with work, pile loads of them. Of course is not always a bad thing, and I did manage to sneak out last night to a food blogger outing at IKEA, organised by David from ThisIsHome. Much fun to be had. Today’s Fridaylicious I will also feature an item I bought from IKEA last night, something I’ve never seen or try before. So let’s find out!

Be afraid, very afraid.
You are what you eat, sad but true. From my little poll survey on my blog, 75% says they eat out once a week, and 15% at least 3 to 5 times a week! Sydney is a city that never short of food with restaurants popping up everywhere constantly. But how much do you know about the food that you are about to put in your mouth? Thanks to The Pom, he found this google map plotting out all the restaurants in NSW that have received a NSW food authority penalty notice in November 2008. Hazard food is right on your doorstep if you are not careful. Even though this report is old and I am sure some of them already got their act together and cleaned up the premises, but who would forget the 2 girls 1 cup incident at Coogee last year, really?!
google map here (sorry please copy and paste on new browser, I cant get it to work on my blog for some reason):

On side note, feel free to eat pork, Swine flu cannot be spread by pork products, since the virus is not transmitted through food.

Godis Gula Snören - 2.75 available in IKEA, Rhodes Sydney
Candy Laces (shoelaces) Toffee flavour
It looks like spaghetti, with hollow center. It feels like air tubing, taste like plastic with a hint of sweetness. This is the first time I have Godis Gula Snören, or Candy Yellow Cords roughly translated. I was intrigued when I first found it at IKEA last night. At first I thought it is a bag of spaghetti since I can’t read Swedish, until I saw the English description on the back of the packet and it says “Candy Laces Toffee Flavour”. I had to buy it to see what it taste like. I found it has a very subtle taste of toffee, almost like chewing on elastic rubber band. You really have to put a lot in your mouth, chew it slowly and let it melt in your mouth, then you will taste the toffee flavour. Strangely, it is rather addictive and I can’t stop keep chewing them.
Also, IKEA in Rhodes, Sydney now has a whole new food product section. There are a lot of good stuff from Sweden! A trip to IKEA is a must!

Man’s best friend
Man loves their beer, man loves their gadgets, when beer mix with gadgets, they are Best Friends Forever! (It rhymes, and I am a genius!) Not really, the genius is the dude who invented this gadget in every man’s dream – a remote control drinks cooler! Here’s an ingenious battery operated ice bucket/Esky that is capable of moving up to twelve bottles of beer to your co-drinkers so you don’t need to fetch another cold one. This sexist TV ad of this products speak for it self.
It is totally out of stock in Australia currently, you will have to wait for the man to get their asses out of the couch and start making more of this remote control drink cooler for the popular demand. Now, if it comes in a shape of Dalek or R2D2, I’ll be the first in line to order!

A Table For Two (ATFT) is Billy Law's food blog that features best eats in Sydney and around the world with drool-worthy food photography to salivate your appetite. I also throw in a smidgen of my food and travel photography for good measure. Billy Law also happened to be a contestant on MasterChef Australia 2011.

Anyone want to do a group buy on the fridge ? It’s a great idea!
ha! we got one of those remote control fridges for a mate when he got engaged. (so he could get used to having someone bring his beer to him instead of having to get up and fetch it himself… hehehe). they’re h’awesome!
shez’s last blog post – ricotta & spinach ravioli
those toffee laces were strangely addictive, and thanks for the link love
ps. i think the penalty notice link isn’t working?
Helen (grabyourfork)’s last blog post – No-knead easy crusty bread
@Helen (grabyourfork): Thanks for letting me know, the link is fixed now!
Glad you enjoyed the night, and found some cool Swedish products!
Hahha the Snoren are pretty nice but I wish they had a bit more flavour to them but they smell gorgeous! LOL at the remote fridge ad!
and Superbowl!??! gtfo!!
FFichiban’s last blog post – Ainoya – Kirribilli, Sydney.
Ooo I’m addicted to Ikea food. I like the elderflower cordial (lygonberry not as nice), the Daims, the dill chips and the pear soda. Mmmm!!!
Noticed on the map that the NSW Food Authority had such reach with their powers, as there were a number of places showing up in the UK and US…
Surprised Pino’s Meats, a place I hear a lot of praise for, had received so many penalty notices.
Toffee laces? The Swedes are always at the forefront of good design, including food it seems! Sorry I missed it but I was busy eating in Bangkok!
Haha addictive mildly toffee tasting rubber bands, do you think it sounds like something one would crave during pregnancy? Meanwhile that remote control fridge, while screaming male gadgetwhore, reminds me of summer..
Miss Honey’s last blog post – Palace Chinese Restaurant Yum Cha

Your blog is so beautifully designed! I really love it and have already found so many interesting things. I will stop by often!
Megan {Feasting on Art}’s last blog post – O’Keefe’s Apple Crisp with Caramel Sauce
Mmm.. candy toffee laces. What if you tried to lace your sneakers with them? Are they malleable enough for that? It’d prolly attract ants though and perhaps girls with a sweet tooth. Could be a hazard.
I got that NSW food authority penalty notice doc via email some time ago. Promptly forgot about/deleted it and accidently ate at one of the repeat offenders on the list. Wasn’t a great experience so thx for the Google Maps link – good to brush up on where not to eat (seems you only get positive recommendations for restaurants and where to eat these days)!
Forager’s last blog post – Charlotte Cafe, the local’s secret
@Howard: I am tempted though… it would be good fun in office I reckon.
@shez: It is such a blokey thing. But I want it in a shape of a Dalek!
@dave – thisishome: They are cool indeed and addictive!
@FFichiban: Yeah superbowl is dodgy man… thats why the food taste so good with the “Extra” flavour.
@Peter G: It is hard to keep track where you are these days!
@Miss Honey: If the laces are sour, well definitely a crave for pregnancy!
@Simon Food Favourites: Hehehe… I want a lady friend!
@Megan {Feasting on Art}: Thanks for dropping by Megan, hope to see u again soon!
@Forager: hmmm don’t tempt me. I actually want to blow into it and see I can make a balloon art of a Poodle!
